If you've been following my campaign you probably have heard me talk about having a positive vision for Belmont. So you might ask, what exactly is a “positive vision for Belmont’s future?” Or even “what does Taylor mean when he says ‘Let's build Belmont's future together?’”

Belmont is special because it is a diverse community across many dimensions, including generations. Our seniors are the strongest threads that hold together the fabric of our Town.
Subject to minor changes discussed last week, Belmont planning officials have voted to recommend favorable action at Town Meeting on the accessory dwelling unit bylaw amendments.
On Saturday, January 11th, Taylor Yates, together with family, friends, and supporters, kicked off the 2025 campaign for Select Board at Comella's on Brighton st.

Another Big Year for the Planning Board
2024 was a big year at the Planning Board. Belmont fulfilled its state requirement to pass the MBTA Communities Act by year-end. I’m proud of the long hours and late nights many people put in to make that law a success and allow good housing development in Belmont.
On December 9th, 2024 Assistant Town Clerk Meg Piccione confirmed that Planning Board Chair Taylor Yates has all signatures needed to appear on the April 1st ballot for Belmont Select Board. Piccione confirmed that the office had completed certification of nomination papers.
Roy Epstein, a two-term member of the Belmont Select Board, has decided not to seek re-election for the seat he’s held since April 2019. “I wanted to tell you that after months of thinking about it, I’ve decided not to seek a third term on the Select Board this spring,” said Epstein. “This has honestly been one of the greatest privileges and one of the most interesting jobs I’ve ever had. Planning Board’s Chair Taylor Yates Forms Committee For Select Board Run
Planning Board Chair Taylor Yates has officially formed a campaign committee to seek election to the Belmont Select Board in the 2025 town election.
With his campaign Chair, former two-term Select Board member Adam Dash, and Treasurer Cabell Eames at his side, Yates submitted the required paperwork to Town Clerk Ellen Cushman on Halloween, Oct. 31, being the first candidate in the race for the seat currently occupied by incumbent Roy Epstein.
One sign of a good leader is being able to get a wide variety of people with different views to agree on something and move forward. Taylor Yates has proven he can do this. What’s more, he is not driven by ego. Taylor simply wants to get good things done for the town. And he will.
